Quality Assurance - From Farm to Finished Product
With all the care that goes into developing our formulas, we are not content to leave the manufacturing or testing to someone else. Most dietary supplement companies buy their ingredients from someone else, then have them blended together and packaged for sale; some even buy their products in finished form! But we know that every detail counts - where the ingredients come from and how they are processed are as important as which ingredients are in the formula in what proportions. And with recent food safety scares in the news, we're even more dubious that product quality is possible without controlling the entire supply chain ourselves. PLANTIVA's formulas are manufactured via a unique process in which all aspects of Quality Assurance (QA) are vertically integrated under one company, starting right from the crude, unprocessed botanicals all the way through the finished product. The corporate QA department in the U.S. oversees all key aspects of procurement, manufacturing, and quality control testing.
Cultivation and harvesting of the raw materials
The herbs and mushrooms are grown in the most pristine, pollution-free environments. The growing land is proven to be the finest, under various conditions, for optimizing the health of the plants and the levels of key marker constituents. As a result, we can ensure reliably low levels of heavy metals and agrochemicals.
We have established comprehensive specifications for all aspects of the raw material sourcing, manufacturing, and testing processes. Both raw materials and finished products are subjected to strict scrutiny and testing. In addition, there are multiple measures in place for careful control of sourcing, handling, extraction, and drying. All aspects of the growing and harvesting processes are carefully documented and reviewed by an experienced quality assurance team.
Testing
Raw materials entering the manufacturing facility are comprehensively tested using a battery of identity, purity, and quality tests using microscopy, TLC, HPLC, GC, AAS, and other techniques. Microbiological testing includes total bacterial count, yeast and mold, and pathogens such as E. coli and salmonella. Analytical testing includes ICP-MS for minerals; HPLC for vitamins and herbal extracts; accelerated and real-time stability. Microbiological testing includes total bacterial count, yeast and mold, and pathogens such as E. coli and salmonella.
